Big Girl Now

Okay, so recently I have had a lot of anxiety about doing things alone without Francisco. So I've been trying hard to take some baby steps in the direction of being back at a place where I can do things on my own. One of those was buying a new car. Well, not new altogether, but new to me. We bought a 1999 Ford Taurus. It has 123,000 miles on it, so that's a bit of a bummer, but we got a really good deal on it! Since I've owned cars my dad has taken care of them all for me without me having to do much but hand him a wrench every once in a while, but now that I'm all grown up and out of the house and married I can't really do that any more. Francisco is very talented with art and computers, but when it comes to the talent of messin around under hoods not so much. (Don't worry we still love him :P ) So I looked up on to see if they could recommend a good mechanic. I grew up listening to them with my dad and the first place I saw had great reviews so I just thought I'd roll the dice and trust that God would put us in a good place. Turns out I was right!! I just got the car serviced! And not too many things were wrong with it. We're looking about about $1000 more altogether to get it up to where we want it to be. My dad said that's actually really good for how old it is and how many miles it is. And that we bought it from a private owner. So I don't feel too ripped off :P So today I got the breaks fixed, the transmission needs to be flushed out and such, the motor mounts need to be replaced (that's the biggest problem and the most expensive one) and the drivers side door lock needs to be replaced. The lock I can wait, the other ones I really can't, but I'll start working again in a month. It's all good though! I'm so proud of myself! I feel confident and strong and I love it! I feel so much safer in my car too.
