Teaching and the SAT

Teaching really is hard work. I'm not sure that people who've never taught would really get that it really is hard. At least my first year is hard. Of course everyone said the first year and maybe even the 2nd would be really hard, but you never really know until you're there. That and it's April. April means May means June means AHHHHHH. lol It just means I have a LOT of work to do, pluse at the end of it all I have a LOT to clean up! *sigh* Then after all that clean up and pack out of my classroom I have to clean up and pack out of our apartment. I'm not sure I'm going to be very good at motivating myself to get this place organized and packed up. UGH!
So my kids have to take their first SAT test (first grade). Most of the test is the listening and understanding of the SAT directions. The state is super anal about how you administer the tests and I'm scared that 1/2 of my kids who just live in their la-la lands will not do well, because they refuse to make themselves focus. I guess I understand that at ages 6 and 7 it really is hard to focus, but it's even harder when these kids' home lives aren't exactly ideal or consistent. I know my kids are smart. I know that I've taught them almost everything they'll need to know for the SAT. But ... I really don't know if they'll do well listening to me administer the test. So the test is M-F from 8:45-12:00 and keep in mind these are First graders! So I'll be talking the whole day, giving directions and the like. And they'll literally be glued to their seats. They can't get up to pee, they can't get water, they can't sharpen their pencils, they can't talk....oh my goodness I think they're gonna go crazy. Well, maybe .... maybe I'll go crazy before they do. *cries*
